Igor Zhukov matriculated to the Indiana University–Purdue University, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor degree in Biology. Both were accepted to the Indiana University School of Medicine, and earned their MD degree by 2008.

Igor completed an anesthesiology residency in University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI 2008-2012 and subsequently was accepted to the Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia.

Upon graduation from fellowship in 2013 stayed on staff at Emory University.
